For what it's worth, the 'don't play with matches' at the end of the Banon episode was the closest thing to a religious experience I've had since walking away from church decades ago. Genuinely shook theory into living resolve for me.

p.s. oh real quick, immigrants and refugees shouldn't have to be productive members of the economy to deserve dignity. Treating someone as a criminal/a non-person because they crossed an imaginary line around a country that we made up is fucking stupid. Maps denote geography, the rest is politics.

But no matter where that conversation goes, it won't change the fact that the overwhelming majority of immigrants and refugees in the UK are tax paying folks contributing to the economy and removing them and or/making it harder to come here will cost them their lives and the country billions. (3)

Like in the UK, foreign born folks are the backbone of our health and care sector, not to mention hospitality, maintenance, retail etc and there's for sure a conversation that needs to be had about power disparity and the kinds of jobs many immigrants are led into by the govt- (2)
