Like, the wheels have come off the cart A Lot, and that edge never goes away, especially when things are rough, but I’m also handling it pretty well, all told?

It’s a weird place to be, and I’m very very aware of it all the time

This is based on real events, btw. It's happened enough times in Arma that it's like, statistically significant- I'll be in the middle of the action, there'll be a moment of calm, then I'll just see something whack me out of the corner of my eye, hear metal clinking on the ground at my feet, then...

As is tradition every year, I leave you with a poem:

I Have a Rendezvous with Death, by Alan Seeger, whose life would be cut short in 1916, serving with the french foreign legion. In his words, may we remember that the lost were all people who lived, loved, and wished for a better world than this.
I Have a Rendezvous with Death
I have a rendezvous with Death At some disputed barricade, When Spring comes back with rustling shade And apple-blossoms fill the air— I have a rendezvous with Death When Spring brings back blue days ...

On this day, the day of that Armistice, I don’t ask that you engage in mindless patriotism, don’t ask that you treat the poor fools sent off to pointless war as heroes, but instead, take a moment to remember.

Remember the unthinkable tragedy on which our world was built. Remember those lives lost.

Entire towns would never see their male populations return home. Starvation and disease in the affected territories would claim many more lives in the coming years, as a world struggled to recover from the senseless devastation.

And it was, like all wars, senseless. Lines on a map, paid in blood.

I reckon it’d be sheer pandemonium, chaos in the streets, dogs and cats hanging out, absolute anarchy

(Also I’d tip me little cowboy hat and say “howdy!”)
