Today’s offering to the Elder Gods: an Arkham Kula. It’s tentacular. #cocktail

First harvest, all from seed! Hot Portugal, Cayenne, 7-Pot Brain, and something I’m told was called “Bruno Mars” but I’m not sure if that’s a legit name. There are tons more of those, but I’m waiting to see what they do colour-wise. The seem to go from green to purple to yellow to orange. #chilies

Enjoying a Hurricane on a remarkably perfect day. #cocktail

Felt like a post-work mojito, and had a couple of strawberries left that were pretty much only good for muddling. I think I chose wisely. #cocktail

I… I’ve got nothing.

Today’s heatwave #cocktail is a variation on the Fort Lauderdale, by the incomparable Sam Ross. I swap the gin for Havana 3 and call it a Hanlon’s Point.

Another heat wave #cocktail - Trader Vic Grog (circa 1960 or so).
Smith & Cross and Appleton 12 rums, lemon, passionfruit, pineapple, with Elemakule Tiki bitters as a sub for Angostura.

Did a whole bunch of work around the house this morning and afternoon. Rewarding myself with today’s #cocktail - a classic 1954 Piña Colada with a little less pineapple juice (and no nutmeg garnish, because I forgot).

#cocktail of the day: a couple of Dirty Shirleys. IYKYK…

The #cocktail of the afternoon is a Queen’s Park Swizzle. Delicious and frosty on a 35 degree day.
June 22, 2025 at 8:50 PM
Both rain and a heatwave have been threatened but have not appeared, so today’s #cocktail in the back yard is a classic 1944 Mai Tai.

Instead of a #cocktail today, it’s a #beer! The Rush Moving Pictures Belgian Strong Ale with Riesling, (2024 Vintage) by Henderson Brewing. 11.5% and really, really tasty.

A friend of mine owns a bar and keeps a nearly untouched bottle on the shelf. He gave some to me once. It hurt my feelings.

Is it possible to write a novel about forensic accounting that's actually interesting? Apparently yes! In fact it's possible to write at least three of them, and they're all pageturners. Pictured is the first “Martin Hench” novel, “Red Team Blues”, by Cory Doctorow. #scifi #thriller #booksky

Finally got around to reading “The Bright Sword” by @levgrossman.bsky.social. If you have an interest in Arthurian legend, this novel will delight you. And even if you don’t, it will surprise you. A worthy addition to the canon. I loved it. #booksky #fantasy

Ringing in the weekend with a Division Bell.

Mezcal, Aperol, Maraschino liqueur, and lime, with a dragonfruit & lime leaf rim. #cocktail

Watching “Network” for the first time in a couple of decades. I’ve got to say, it feels weirdly relevant these days.

If you're trying to buy Canadian, watch out for maple-washing on Loblaws/PC products. The one on the right was put on the shelves just a couple of days after the one on the left. Notice any difference? (Note that all the maple leaf means here is that they meet Canadian standards as organic.)

It’s not a comprehensive list, and it’s not without its problems, but it’s a start.
