I'm too tired to look it up, but when the yeti became a white people craze, one of the guys who went to go look for one, suspecting they were bears, was specifically told by a local who had seen one that they shit down their legs and it stinks.

SCIENCE!!!
everyone loves to picture the yeti, majestic, pure white fur framed against a brilliant blue sky as it stalks the frigid cliffs of a craggy mountain. well, I’m sorry to say that if you think about it for even one minute it’s obvious the big guy’s legs would be absolutely slathered in piss and shit

This one's been reprinted a few times and doing it live it either gets no response or an excited one. Anyhow, anyone tells you that Los Angeles can't be done on foot has missed out on the exceptional animal that is LA on foot.

Us Living in Fictional Cosmogonies is $5. Find out why The Smurfs is xenophobic, Frasier is set in a universe designed to fuck with women, Robert Heinlein's designer house was a failure, Bill and Ted is concerned with received wisdom as historicized fact, and Twin Peaks is not a David Lynch show.
Help me get some good books in the hands, minds and souls of those who deserve! From a queer look at post-9/11 America via the X-Men to a novel about fanfic, transvestigation, repression and mystery, there's something for everyone and you oughta get in on this!

The anglophone comics scene in Shandong was a trip when Luna Snow, White Fox, Wave, Aero and such were debuting and felt like they'd be around and prominent for awhile. It didn't exactly last, like that, but they're all still cool as hell.

I have not wanted to believe this for the 30 min since announced. Alice Wong was at the top of a very short list of ppl who truly made the world a better place; a fierce oracle who inspired, rallied, personally supported in dark moments +spoke up for so many of us in the disabled community.
💔 RIP
I’m heartsick to hear that the incomparable Alice Wong has passed. Her loss will be felt keenly, by many, and for a long time. She is a force, a generous leader and storyteller, and an oracle for disabled futures. Much love to Alice and to all our crip kin and comrades. ❤️‍🩹

Free poems. Just what you wanted!
"Speak with love, my love, from Vegades
At the end of the day, I will see you
Three times of you, when I wait
Three times you, when I wait
Speak low, my love, sometimes your queen will come
Up on the sun like a radio dream"
Songs for Cut Diamond
These are poems which different venues were uninterested in, or interested in but unable to justify in line with their theme.

The first Bunnicula book was co-written by a quietly queer couple, long before the surviving author came out as gay, in attempt to keep the dying co-author as she passed, which is why it functions on so many levels and makes little attempt to ensure any other level gets a different level's jokes.

Watching Munsters, Go Home, as part of my cheer up. In Us Living I show love for the Munsters as just as goth & just as loving as the Addams, just with less money and a desperation to assimilate to middle class America or upper crust England, which they see on equal footing.

I am obsessed with this comic, and am completely unsure, even today, if I don't understand some references and savvy some puns or if those things don't mean nothing and I'm overreaching. Wild stuff. And, made me feel less weird.
It's Dave Cockrum's birthday and all the comics people are posting about so I feel like I should say thank you, Dave Cockrum, for designing the absolute best X-Men character.

The idea that there was a time or culture with no queers, no queerness, no homosexuality, no questioning gender is absurd, but an easy idea to accept the same way that over the course of about 12 years we got used to muscle-peak Arnold Schwarzenegger being a slightly fit normative American man.

Blanket reminder that it does not "take two to fight," and it never has. Some folks are abusive. Some people are belligerent. Some pugilistic. And, if a person didn't make an easy ready target, they'd hit the wall or knock over a lamppost or curse the clouds.

Our urge to say that Professor X or Magneto is a "good person" or "right," is distinct from their actual characterization or deeds. It's that we want to be good what we see them representing. Unfortunately, we do that with real world political figures, too, including softening on Reagan or W Bush.

The story of how Dwayne McDuffie turned being jerked around writing the Justice League into a story about stories and then was fired by DC for telling stories.

We talk anima/animus, othering, group dynamics, systemic racism, weaponized woke lingo, and white people doing Anansi stories.
Anansi is Supposed to be Me
System Racism, the Justice League, the nature of stories, and how Dwayne McDuffie got fired.

People will complain that a slasher nightmare walks too slow to catch running victims, but as I dove into for Us Living, that is the nightmare part. It's that it doesn't make sense and isn't by the rules that makes it upsetting and unfightable.
