Our purpose in life is to be happy and to show other people how to be happy. We need to measure our success by how much we can give ourselves grace and extend grace to others. Our worth should be determined by the fact that we were born, not by how many numbers we put in a bank account.

My neighbor across the street watered the plants in her window yesterday. She then proceeded to spend the next hour just hanging out with them, leaning on the windowsill and contemplating life.
Or she was using them as a screen to spy on her neighbors across the way; either way she seemed content.

We all want the same things in life: good health, happiness, safety, and lack of suffering. Sometimes to get those things, we have to have pills shoved down our throats but hopefully there is a warm, sunny spot waiting for us afterwards.

After twenty years of no contact, I finally found forgiveness for my mother. The pain and loneliness she endured as a child, coupled with a lack of mental health care and self-medicating, shaped her actions.
Compassion for her, however, does not mean I feel the need to invite her back into my life.
