Wrapped up Ghost of Yotei. Fantastic game, honestly vibed with it more than Tsushima. Fun and tense, gorgeous music and visuals, great classic revenge western sort of vibe. Just couldn't put it down.

Hit credits on Hades 2. Still plenty to do I'm sure but damn what a game. Supergiant has been one of my fav devs since even before Hades 1, but both of them have been early access at their best. Played through each at every stage and it made them feel like the epics they are.

Finished Silksong off fully last night, 94% completion. Damn, what a game. Kicked my ass more than a couple times, but damn if it ain't satisfying. Gorgeous art and music, snappy combat, lots of tools and ways to play and content. Loved it.

Just finished Clair Obscur. What a goddamn fantastic, satisfying, beautiful, heartbreaking game. Just the whole way through. Fucking excellent.

When Clive Barker was working on the MUMMY remake for Universal in the early '90s, he had a trans character in the script, and when the studio vetoed it, he basically said "I really can't stress how much I don't need to fucking make THE MUMMY" and left.

The fact that we're finally getting a Returnal spiritual successor is hype as hell. I absolutely adored that game. This one starring Rahul Kohli only makes me more excited.

This past Thursday I lost my great uncle, who was like a second dad to me, so I had to drive back down home and do funeral and stuff just before Christmas, but that's all out of the way now and I did some new writing while away so we push ever onward.

I've finally gone back and fully caught up on Kingdom Hearts after so many years. I *adored* the first as a kid and was real into the second but fell off hard after those, but it was a real treat to fully explore the whole series as an adult, and honestly more fun than I expected.

With the game award talks coming around now and plenty of great, big name games getting their time to shine, from Metaphor to FF7R to Silent Hill 2 to Infinite Wealth, thought I'd put together a thread of smaller titles I loved this year since those are experiences I always hold close to my heart.

I adore Elden Ring and enjoyed the DLC greatly but having it take a spot for Game of the Year over actual full game releases, and in such a strong year, feels like such a waste. It deserves to be honored, but it's not its own game.

Dragon Quest 3 remake has been such a nice little pick-me-up after the depression of the state of the world and the usual post game sadness of having beaten Veilguard. I adored this game as a kid and revisiting it now in what seems like its definitive version has been a treat.

Got to a part in Veilguard where some ridiculously big lore bombs were getting dropped and still managed to sit on the choice selection staring fondly at my Rook, who is now one of my fav character creations.
