Middle class woman of a certain age. Knows how to deal with stupid people.

Switched broadband today. Major mistake. Do not go with Vodafone. In >20 years of BB use, I've never had such issues in changing provider. I now have to drive 15 miles to find a real person to sort it out. I am extremely NOT happy.

One of the boxes in the freezer had cake in it. I think it was a Waitrose Pear & Blonde chocolate (now discontinued IIRC) cut into slices and wrapped in greaseproof paper. There's enough to last the week 🥳 (unless I'm too greedy)

Busy day. Hung up the washing, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned and refilled the bird feeders, shopped, emptied all the unknowns out of the freezer to make room for more identifiable items, filled the food waste bin, made chilli, watched ST:SNW. Just need to sort out kit for tomorrow and eat tea.

It's not whether The Orange W⚓ sues the BBC, it's how much the legal fees are going to be. One hopes they (the licence fee payers) have insurance against this kind of thing.

If I see another Burger King advert tonight, I may have to take out a hit on Gordon Ramsey.

And I don't like Coca Cola!

The problem with binge watching Usian series is how quickly all the standard "unusual" episodes come up. I've just reached the obligatory musical episode of Strange New Worlds.

Every bit as miserable today - I don't think there was any point when I was outside and it wasn't at least muzzling - but twice as much power generated!

This is what happens when I log in to the Vodafone account I set up last week. Every time.
Everything they do works through the website or app. If I have registered and set up a password, how can it not work? I got a text this morning saying contact them if I have an issue. But it's impossible

Finally managed to speak to Vodafone service centre. They tell you to do everything on the app, but apparently the app is not active until the service is activated. So I can't change my router settings in advance of the switch over so all my systems will be down until I get home in the evening 🤬

What a grey day!

9 years ago today I sprained my ankle slipping off the edge of the old railway footpath on my way to training. Much to the amusement of the 2 runners who picked me up, I swore A LOT and went home to ice it. 10 days later, I started my current job with a bandage & limp. It still gives me aggro.

Huzzah! That'll save some money. Although it's going to be fun where there are multiple unitary authorities in the same boundaries as the police / fire services cover.
Police and crime commissioners to be scrapped in England and Wales
The government says it will save £100m over this Parliament and less than 20% of voters can name their PCC.

Nice to have a bit of sunshine before the coming stormy weather. The last few days have been grey and wet with very little PV activity. At least I can top the battery up.

Tuesday is my day for being in the office in Northampton. I left home at 7.40 to avoid the traffic, got there, realised I'd forgotten my laptop, came back, picked up laptop. UoN graduation day, so car parks heaving. Got in the office to find a colleague having a major personal crisis 1/2

9.30pm and someone has started a reenactment of some badly thought out battle. I have no idea why anyone thinks that 11pm is a suitable cutoff time for anything that makes so much noise. Or why anything that makes so much noise is required at all.

Finally found the app setting that stops my dishwasher from telling me it needs salt and rinse aid.

There's nothing worse than getting a form email from a company you previously contacted to say you have a problem with their product saying "we're really sorry you're not paying us money anymore, please pay us again" instead of "thanks for letting us know, here's what we've done to address that"

Changing broadband to Vodafone. So far it's been the most stressful switch since an old dial up ISP went bust in about 2002 and locked all their customers in for 30 days to a company that was 3 times the price. I'm hoping things can only get better from here.

There’s no screening for ovarian cancer and it’s really difficult to spot: you can’t squidge your ovaries in the shower to check for lumps. Also it’s very good at masquerading at other things, like IBS and diverticulitis.

Please take a look at this list of symptoms - and share if you can.

Just got back from a weekend Up North. Now off to see Back to the Future for its 40th anniversary re-release. I remember taking Ma to see it when it first came out. (I had misremembered when, I thought it was 83, when she & I used to have tea & film / play in town on a Wed when Pa did night school.)

Getting increasingly ticked off by our IT bods' lack of botheredness. We are a UK organisation. I have my PC & apps setting set to UK date format. But anything that links to the company cloud shows in US date format, no amount of help tickets can change this! It matters!

It's official. I love Go 8 Bit more than Richard Osman's House of Games.

Fun night of tag sparring in both kids' and adult classes, marred only by the first entry in the accident book since before Covid when a couple of the adults got a little over excited, resulting in a dislocated finger joint. All sorted now.

Non-training night in winter. Just watched 2 TV shows I've never seen before.

Taskmaster - what a pile of pants. That's 45 minutes I'm never getting back.
Go 8 Bit - I'm addicted to watching people play ancient video games.

Good thing I'm kicking people tomorrow night!
