The EU have much more macro policy space to react than the US: Fed cannot cut rates into stagflation spiral, ECB can w deflationary pressures. Germany has fiscal space. If NL, Scandis join in demand blow manageable unless we hit GFC 2.0.

This debate is becoming increasingly confused. There are two very different things: European spending on defence and EU spending on defence.
They are *not* the same and I have many questions from an EU budget person perspective on why we focus on the latter.

Elf jaar geleden werkte ik op de ambassade in #Vilnius. Een prachtig land met prachtige mensen: ik heb er nog altijd veel vrienden. Wellicht wat zwaar op de hand wat betreft de Russische dreiging vonden we toen.

But I’m going to stick my neck out a bit and say that I don’t think the EU should just let this unravel. Three things matter now:
First, EU policymakers need to think hard before letting Northvolt go over the cliff. This company represented the EU’s best shot at building a European-based industry.
