A lovely peaceful night out with owls hooting occasionally. Clear skies overnight with a big moon and lots of stars. Chilly in the early hours but warmer by dawn as cloud cover increased.

Simple things 🙂

Big bright moon for tonight's interval training. We almost didn't need head torches.

Last week, a night spent in the woods. No phone signal, just the sound of the wind in the trees and a flickering candle.

Simple things.

Navigating over rough, wet moorland in the dark. Trying to follow a compass bearing whilst counting your paces and avoiding the bogs.

What a great way to spend your Friday evening 😁

Peaceful night out in my 26 year old tent. (I know it looks a bit saggy I hadn't pegged the front out yet)

Bought in the 1990s for cycle touring, it was one of the smallest and lightest 1 person tents.

I have newer, lighter tents but it's good to get the old Terra Nova Solar 1 out now and again.

Quite a shocking story.
Get well soon Kevin.
I was unexpectedly admitted to hospital on Sunday 5th October where I remained until my discharge this afternoon.

Post Dragon's Back Race my foot was still swollen and sore.

I was diagnosed with a DVT on Friday morning.

I've documented my experience in a blog.

Hill Reps session: I love a saw-tooth profile!

14 x 2 minute efforts with jog down recoveries.
Note how heart rate creeps up throughout the session.
The first rep was an easier effort and I re-tied my lace after the second rep.
I deliberately took less recovery on the final 4 reps.

The Instinct XX20 Backpack.
I've used it for both trail running and ultralight camping / fastpacking. It has loads of storage options, but does it risk being over complicated?
What do you think?
