Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 was part of a broader effort to reshape Europe’s security architecture to favor Moscow, including asserting spheres of influence. Despite military setbacks in Ukraine, there is little evidence that the Kremlin has abandoned these ambitions.
