No document will protect you. All they have to do is take it from you and "lose" it; take it from you and say you never gave it to them; claim it's fake ⬇️; make a new rule that you need ANOTHER document. Citizenship is a made-up status that governments decide the rules for. No one is free until all.
Dulce Consuelo Diaz Morales was born in Maryland. She has a valid U.S. birth certificate, medical and immunization records, and sworn affidavits.

Yet, ICE claims her documents are “not authentic” and has held her in immigration detention for days.
Trump Administration Says Maryland Woman's Birth Certificate Is Fake In Dystopian Move
Dulce Consuelo Diaz Morales was arrested on Sunday. ICE won’t release her despite extensive documentation of her citizenship, her attorneys told HuffPost.

I was in the hospital for a few days recently (nothing bad!) and lost track of my Duolingo obligations and was discharged to find out that my Duolingo friends had donated streak freezes to keep my streak alive, so I’m basically that one scene in the Tobey McGuire Spider-Man

Trump calling Somalis "garbage" en route to a literal militarized purge of the community is a real litmus test for Democratic party politicians. Imagine being so worthless that they can't find time even to speak up about it.

I bought a twenty dollar magazine because it had a story by and interview with Robert Plunkett and that might be the best money I spent all year

I am super excited to have a short story in this; I should note that it is a story I wrote entirely in the notes app on my phone after being inspired by Emily Gould’s interview with Jen Beagin www.vulture.com/2023/02/jen-...

I was for on the kind of shitty woman’s health app that has a lot of ads for mahjong for seniors and one of the other ads was for Warhammer and there was something weirdly soothing about that

Over the weekend I got to play this game as the US and I won, but in the course of winning I was like, yeah, but the deserve-to-win-o-meter was all the other way, and that’s why it’s a bad idea to go onto sports statistics pages

So there’s this poster on the wall of my hotel room and I cannot come up with a single word that ends “pevted” which no doubt is a failure of imagination on my part

Kaleb Horton was an amazing writer and it is really cool to read another amazing writer write about him.
Put together some thoughts here.

In an earlier time he would have been the kind of writer being paid $5 a word by magazines to go write about whatever he pleased. And no one would be pissed off or jealous about it either.

The absolute best case scenario for writing anything is that someone will read and remember it and when that someone is also a genius that’s way beyond the best case scenario. Anyway this is a crappy week for a lot of reasons but it was amazing to be included in this defector.com/our-favorite...

The thing about the Trump/Epstein dialogue thing that I can’t get over is that it replicates perfectly the tone of booze ads in the 80s New Yorker

Alina Habba tells Fox News that Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested and is being held in a secret location right now.

Martha MacCallum: "Where is he being held?"

Habba: 'I'm not going to speak to that right now. He's obviously in New Jersey."

worried we’re spending too much time emphasizing that someone is a Student or Writer or Not A Criminal or Not Involved In Protests or just a Good Person and not enough time remembering that *no one* should be disappeared, detained, deported to horrific camps
