Oh, @heritage.bsky.social, I don't need to imagine this. I did it back when I was writing my MA dissertation about it. www.theguardian.com/film/2025/no...

Cor, excellent.
Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are doing a a podcast called Pondcast where they reminisce about Doctor Who. No word on when it will become available but they’ve already recorded a few and have had Steven Moffat as a guest.

A decaf coffee bean advent calendar. Something you'd think would exist but doesn't.
everything is bonkers right now and we need a timeline cleanse. let’s play a game. if I handed you a blank check but you could ONLY spend it on an Advent calendar, what absurdly pricy collection of little treats are you buying yourself?

They really think their audience is stupid, don’t they?
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

What a goof. Incredible.
Martin Scorsese and his daughter Francesca read Letterboxd reviews and guessed which Scorsese movie they were about.

The credits for The Fantastic Four: First Steps list something called a Loop Group which for that film included the listed of Sam Witwer and Vanessa Marshall. Bit of googling and I found this Hollywood Reporter piece about how lucrative it is: www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/bus...
“The Mafia of the Acting World”: Hollywood’s Secret Loop Groups
Welcome to the insular world of background voice actors, where major players can rake in up to $1 million a year and "no one gives up their spots, you have to kill someone to get in."

This - just watched the clip - and it is indefensible. But it's no worse than what many of the news outlets cheering about this do on a daily basis, either through a clickbait headline which has suggests something is happening which isn't or just straight up lying.
Lets not overlook the fact that the BBC fucked up, they edited together a sequence to create a narrative, it was media manupulation, it didn't need to be done as the evidence was already damning enough, and in doing so they handed the high ground to the absolute worst cunts in existence.

Hopscotch (1980) Walter Matthau on the run from various security services because he's releasing all their big secrets. He's smart in a Doctorish way and has Glenda Jackson as his confident and foil. Only found out about it because of the Criterion edition and wish I'd grown up with it.
What is the best movie not from this year that you’ve seen this year? Bonus points if you say why

Kristen Wiig in Wonder Woman 1984.
What’s your all time favorite Hollywood Homely fail? When a woman is meant to be unattractive but she’s gorgeous. Thinking of how Safety Not Guaranteed has a key moment where a man’s ex is in the script old and no longer attractive and she’s a knockout who the movie still plays as old.
