_More Than This_ by @patricknessbooks.bsky.social was astonishingly good - quite possibly my favourite book of the year. Many thanks to @amadmannotabox.bsky.social for the recommendation, and to @nmjcoveney.bsky.social for giving me cause to think that I really should pick up a Patrick Ness book 😉

6½ - I don't like liver, mushrooms, courgettes, avocado, cottage cheese of olives, and eggs depends very much on how they're cooked. Never had grits, ranch dressing or snails - I'd need to muster my courage to try the latter. I LOVE blue cheese, shrimp/prawns, sardines and indeed most fish.

There are so many strong candidates. I love how Gail wrote the Mad Hatter, and Ragdoll was a truly fascinating, complex character. But the winner has to be Catman, and not only because he's as fine as five Fridays, but because he really puts the hero into anti-hero while always remaining himself.

It appears to be the year for big collections from @jmdematteis.bsky.social. I'd not previously heard of Moonshadow, but I'm really looking forward to discovering it.

While I was in London I took the opportunity to visit Foyles and look for books by @jesszafarris.bsky.social. I should have predicted they'd be with the books by @susiedent.com :S
