Under the hood quiet progress to keep your machine secure:

"Fedora Linux 43 will be the first release with RPM 6.0. Like I said, this should go unnoticed to end-users, but it is a significant change. RPM 6.0 provides some interesting security enhancements, like multiple key signing of packages […]

infra weekly recap: mid October 2025
Another saturday recap of the last week for me in fedora infra. ## Timeout issue The timeout issue ( https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/12814 ) has sucked up the vast majority of my time this week. A fix/cause continues to elude me. I've come up with a bunch of theories, but they are always proven wrong. So, in an attempt to at least get more datapoints, I brought out a bigger hammer: I reinstalled a proxy with Fedora 43 (yes, I know it's not out yet but it's very close to being out, I've been running it fine on my servers at home for a while, etc). This did provide some more data, but no solution. Next, I reinstalled a virthost / hypervisor that that proxy was on with rhel10. Most of our hypervisors are currently rhel9, but we planned to move them to rhel10 after f43 was out. This went mostly fine, but also didn't solve anything in the end. I'll keep trying to figure it out, thanks for everyone's patience. ## Fedora 43 news We have a RC now (it's rc-1.4 for reasons), but it wasn't fixing all the blockers on thursday, so we were no go for a release next week. Please do help out testing the rc and filing bugs you hit. Always appreciated. ## More power for copr As part of our datacenter move, we moved our primary ppc64le builders over to new power10 hardware, which left us some power9 capacity we could repurpose to copr builders. I did a fair bit of work on getting those setup over the last week, and hopefully can finish that off next week. Need to reinstall them again and tweak a few things and then the copr team can get them added. Hopefully that will help out builds there. ## RDU2-CC to RDU3 Datacenter move Not too much to report on this. However, the new copr power9's are in the new vlan in rdu3 that we will be using for the other items migrating, so we know things are working for those later moves. ## comments? additions? reactions? As always, comment on mastodon:

Why not use that to host a web server?
