Gentleman Wargamer
My oldest asked to build a model tank with me. She even wore her finest unicorn dress to mark the occasion. I recently found a Lindberg Battlefront Four kit - same that I built with my Dad when I was her age.

I’m so grateful for these moments.

Very cool stuff Alex! I greatly desire more Market Garden for Chain of Command 2.
The Ambush at Wolfheze, Arnhem 1944. C Troop, 1st Airborne Reconnaissance Squadron attempt to break through the German defence perimeter of Arnhem. Today's game of Chain of Command 2. #spreadthelard #15mmwargaming #bashonrecce

To further visualize the "Hedgerow Hell" we've been gaming, here is a great tabletop to the real battlefield comparison.

The blue dot is the lane and field where a platoon of US Infantry were spotted by an MG42 Team from the stone house. The tactical problems presented by hedgerow country abound.

I’ve been wargaming Normandy battles a lot this year across the tabletop, boardgames, and PC. I’m reminded each time with greater depth of clarity what a nightmare combat was in the hedgerows.

The Dragoons Fall Assembly put the 20 system on my radar, and I’ve been eyeballing Jena 20 particularly, so this only adds fuel to the fire.

@gmtgames.bsky.social should certainly given it the “Fading Glory” treatment! Would buy another quad box of 20 games in a heartbeat.

Spare some love today for Collingwood. The other Admiral at Trafalgar.

Proud northerner. Hater of flogging. Legit brilliant commander and Nelson's trusted right hand. First into battle on Royal Sovereign. Took charge after Nelson was sniped and saved the British Fleet.

Here's HIS Trafalgar... /1 🧵

I’ve had the magazines for a while, and they are still excellent reads. Now I’ve finally found a copy of the games!

We imagined it to be Kursk, with hordes of Soviets holding off a massive German attack. What it was was eight players, a 15' table, and three hours of "Eisenhower" with Little Wars TV and the Armchair Dragoons left in an early 4-4 tie. @armchairdragoons.bsky.social

On table tonight: Richard Borg’s The Great War. An underrated entry to the Commands and Colors series.

Running the concluding scenario to the Battle of Loos, 110 years later.

SAS: Rogue Regiment at @armchairdragoons.bsky.social Fall Assembly.

A board game that is crying out for miniatures. Props to Chris and his 3D Printer for bringing this to life.
