#SPSP2025

Had a great time presenting with Andrew Stewart, @mwkraus.bsky.social, and Gail Sahar on the institutional fault lines at SPSP regarding anti-Arab, anti-Muslim, and anti-Palestinian bias. And huge thanks to my friend and colleague Saera Khan for co-facilitating this workshop!

Here's the same set of tests for study 3. Again, not much here other than the threat-relevant political belief. (18/n). Lots of evidence for equivalence. In fact, there was only *1* test of equivalence for irrelevant political beliefs showing evidence of non-equivalence. (18/24)

More substantively, we found little to no evidence of broadband conservative shifts. Here are the equivalence tests from our second study. Most effects outside of the focal threat-relevant event showed evidence of equivalence. (17/24)

More substantively, we again wondered if these more direct inductions influenced threat-relevant and irrelevant political beliefs. Here's what we find. We consistently found an anger effect, and in this case, we saw some evidence for a fear-based effect. (16/24)

We first wanted to make sure we effectively manipulated emotions in the expected way. And this is what we found. Both emotions were differentially activated in terms of felt emotions. (15/24)

Here's what we found. One significant effect. The justice prime influenced anti-Muslim attitudes and not much else. Null effects for the security prime vs. control. All other effects were not close. We'll get back to that shortly (13/24)

As you can see from this mediation analysis, anger is doing the heavy lifting in terms of shaping political preferences. Anger was associated with greater support for a hawk and less support for dovish politicians. (11/24)
