Excited to be in New Orleans for the Southern Education Foundation's Issues Forum. Jiyeon Goo and I will be discussing how school discipline systems are responding to student use of artificial intelligence. Big takeaway: discipline policy hasn't caught up to student use of AI.

Always enjoy a meeting at Alachua County Public Schools district office. My grandmother taught elementary school in the building in the 1940s. Had a chance to visit the historic classroom this time.

Ten years ago this summer, I was preparing to defend my dissertation at Vandy. Today, I received word that I've been promoted to full professor at my undergrad alma mater. Thanks to all of the mentors, collaborators, students, and friends who have supported me in this journey!

National standards like the Common Core are controversial. Interestingly, the Next Generation Science Standards have avoided much of this controversy. Katharine Harris-Walls and I examine the correlates of states adopting NGSS to explore why.
