Haidt just announced that he’s joined Bari Weiss’s “the free press” fascist disinformation org, and the Heritage Foundation has a plan to use social media restrictions to ban lgbtq content. That should tell you all you need to know about the politics of censoring the speech of youth.

Bro, it’s a declining empire, and Trump’s actions are causing it to decline much faster. So even if Dems ever do regain power, and wanted to hold him to account, they’ll have less and less capacity to do so.
It’s not about “regaining power” it’s about surviving climate chaos.

This seems correct— which would suggest that scientists and universities in poorer / red / “taker” states are most at risk and need to get their reps to stop this.

I’m unclear if there’s some small revenue for them in it, and I’m not necessarily suggesting that they’re taking $ from the kremlin directly… but they do all tend to flatten conflicts into good guys/ bad guys and give Iran, China, Russia a pass.

I can’t pretend to have any special insight into their motives or actual beliefs. I follow some of them (anarcho.communism, abnormalize.being, antifascistmemes) because they seem to reach a mass audience and for lulz. It seems like there’s a whole little ecosystem of these accounts.

One could forgive the uninitiated for mistaking that sort of deliberate cooptation of anarchist positions / branding as being evidence of broader uncritical support amongst anarchist for such regimes.
