A few people stopped by and asked for some apples. Also found some plums and (obviously) blackberries.
A 16' orchard ladder is the perfect tool and a bike trailer the best way to carry it around.

I think the Canadian hardcore proponents of "partnership based" research (like CIHR) who have been funnelling a growing % of the research $ to topics selected by governments should do some serious soul searching. Because basically they have been saying the exact same thing for years.

In 1995, Umberto Eco wrote a list of the 14 central features of Fascism.
Exactly 30 years later, the US elected a government with a perfect score of 14/14 on the Fascism-scale.
You can (and should) read the whole text (archive.org/details/umbe...) but here are some quotes
  1. The first feature of Fascism is the cult of tradition. 2. Traditionalism implies the rejection of modernism. […] In this sense Fascism can be defined as irrationalism. 3. Irrationalism also depends on the cult of action for action’s sake. Action being beautiful in itself, it must be taken before, or without, any previous reflection. 4. No syncretistic faith can withstand analytical criticism. [… For Fascism, disagreement is treason. 5. Besides, disagreement is a sign of diversity. […] Fascism is racist by definition. 6. Fascism derives from individual or social frustration. 7. To people who feel deprived of a clear social identity, Fascism says that their only privilege is the most common one, to be born in the same country. 8. The followers must feel humiliated by the ostentatious wealth and force of their enemies. 9. For Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle. Thus pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. 10. Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology, insofar as it is fundamentally aristocratic, and aristocratic and militaristic elitism cruelly implies contempt for the weak. 11. In such a perspective everybody is educated to become a hero. In every mythology the hero is an exceptional being, but in Fascist ideology, heroism is the norm. 12. Since both permanent war and heroism are difficult games to play, the Fascist transfers his will to power to sexual matters. This is the origin of machismo (which implies both disdain for women and intolerance and condemnation of nonstandard sexual habits 13. Fascism is based upon a selective populism […] Thus the People is only a theatrical fiction.  Wherever a politician casts doubt on the legitimacy of a parliament because it no longer represents the Voice of the People, we can smell Fascism. 14. Fascism speaks Newspeak. All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning.

I like going to the Black neighbourhoods of Washington, where I saw a fight in the US capital between Blacks and Latinos with barricades, which seemed like nonsense to me, because they should join together. Three years ago, I built a #cargobike out of two frames, part of a ladder and a bird cage. I didn't expect to really use it much.

But honestly now we can't do without...

It was out of commission for a month to deal with a cracked tube and we missed it *so much*...

Everyone needs a #cargobike
