Transcript Colne Valley Lions Over the last twenty-five years we have raised over £77,000 from our beer festivals, and have supported the likes of: Yorkshire Cancer Research, Ruddi's Retreat, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Forget Me Not Children's Hospice, Laura Crane Trust and provided defibrillators with 24/7 access to the five villages within the valley. In the 35 years we have been in existence, we have raised and donated over £350,000 to deserving causes. In addition, we have planted over 16,000 trees and 55,000 daffodil bulbs within the Colne Valley. In 2015, with the proceeds of the beer festival, we purchased 5 defibrillators: one each in the villages of Milnsbridge, Golcar, Linthwaite, Slaithwaite and Marsden, and we continue to pay for the maintenance of the units and for replacement pads when the defib has been used! To commemorate the centenary of Lions internationally in 2017, we also donated community benches to the five villages in the Valley. We meet on the second Monday of each month at Broad Oak Bowling Club at 7.30pm. We are always looking for new members, so if you are aged between 18-80 and would like to 'give a little back' to the community in which we live then please contact us:

Tucked into a clough, an original stone pinfold. Built next to a running water source, a place to keep stray farm animals until their owners were notified. Dating from around the 18c. I love our history, hidden in plain sight. #Slaithwaite
