Since Publishing Derby is over, I can finally reveal my entry for this year:
Blood Upon the Wind is a historical fantasy murder mystery. A killer vampire is on the loose and the only one that can stop them is a strange detective who is not what he seems.

I’m deeply disappointed in @bsky.app moderation; equating pushback against people like JKR with the harm they cause to trans ppl only enables more violence. I’ll talk more soon but even a day away from social media has been healthy.

it appears that @bsky.app have suspended the account of @jessiegender because a trans person saying "I wish ill on JK Rowling" is against the rules, so let me say with my loud cis voice that I too wish ill on all perpetrators of hate speech against trans people

The more articles I see about Bluesky, the more it feels like an industry psyop because they see a site being moderately successful while having basic tools for limiting hate speech, and seethe at the notion someone could exist happily without constantly debating fascists.

My one UI hot take: Dark mode has killed good light mode design.
Our interfaces used to actually have colour and contrast in there. Now that dark mode is the default and everything is shades of black, many designers just do a lazy invert for light mode and make everything blindingly solid white.

This year in writing, I am pursuing my rather ambitious goal of trying to publish five books during 2025.
Probably will include taking publishing more seriously in general; this year's releases should nicely round out my author catalogue.

The past couple of days have been crap but I did get three rare cards each in the two card packs I bought, so at least there's that.

The joys of dealing with ISP tech support. Describe what is very clearly an issue with the modem.
The guy just fully refuses to believe it could possibly be a modem issue, even as I watch my modem bootloop. So now it's being investigated as a completely different issue it is clearly not.
