I just stampeded through my first book of the year! #52book is off to a great start with Northanger Abbey by #janeausten

tl;dr is it's delightful to read and the characters are so good. Just wish the end hadn't wrapped up so quickly. 3.75⭐️ #booksky #bookreview

For the #52book challenge, I finished 61 books. I succeeded in my reading goals and read a broad variety of books! I loved more than I hated, and was happy for that.

If you're going to fridge women, please at least make that fridging be consistent with the character's story arc.

Because if you don't do that, I will absolutely read it and go "for fuck's sake."

Book 57 of the year was Little Thieves by Margaret Owen. Will say this: if you're looking for a good YA fantasy, this one is on that list!

4⭐️ - some little things in the plot and characters to up drama aside, a solid and enjoyable read! #booksky #📚💙

Currently seeing in realtime why people need beta readers. I'm beta reading a YA post-apocalyptic novel and Boy Howdy it reads like a book featured in one of KrimsonRouge's takedowns.

It's lazy and unmotivated and exhausting.
But also... it's not out, so the writer has time to fix the problems

Book 56 of the year was The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by S.A. Chakraborty, and it's the first great book I've read in a while. Great world building, amazing characters, wonderful plot!

4.75⭐️ and will definitely pick up the next in the series

You know what?

My #TBR list is a menu, not an obligation. If someone recommends a book I might like, I want to record it so I don't forget! Will I ever finish my TBR? I sure hope not! Too many good books in this world. #booksky

Book 55 of the year and completing my challenge to read 10 public domain books by the end of the year? Paradise Lost by John Milton.

Why did I think reading Paradise Lost by John Milton was a good idea?

Probably because of the murmurings that he portrayed Satan as sympathetic and that intrigued me. I think the important piece is not that Satan was sympathetic, but that I don't think Milton intended him to be so sympathetic.

I don't have any books I need to buy right now

So I bought The Mabinogion Tetralogy by Evangeline Walton, an epic that was written before Tolkien published The Hobbit on ebook from @bookshop.org.

Because even when there are no books to buy, there are ALWAYS books to buy.

Finished book 54 of the year, so we're into bonus books for the #52book challenge.

Dragonfall by L.R. Lam. So disappointing! It took absolutely wonderful ingredients and then turned around and burned the cake. I don't plan on reading the sequel. 2.25⭐️ #booksky

Please support your local libraries. They're the epitome of "knowledge is for everyone & must be free." They provide services to the homeless & rent out laptops for students in need. They're angels.

Use Libby, Hoopla, and Kanopy (The Godfather is on Hoopla to convince you 🎬!)

It's all FREE!
Alt text. This is pretty awful, but probably what has to be done to preserve the service at all.

IMLS still has a chance- please make sure to show support.

Is there a reason I can't find Reign & Ruin by J.D. Evans on Libby, or at my local library (and by extension ALL libraries in my state)?

I don't buy books sight unseen, ESPECIALLY romantasy which has such disparate quality. #booksky

Onto the #52book bonus round! I'm not going to change my goal because 52 books in a year is a worthy and amazing thing to do! It means everything beyond this point feels like extra credit, and that's an awesome feeling!
