In olden days, you'd walk into someone's living room, see "12:00" flashing on the VCR, and you'd know that this person isn't good with home tech and would probably appreciate some guidance.
Today's equivalent is when you see that their TV is on the factory default "Motion Smoothing: ON" setting.
