This pair of figures was an experiment. I was using slap chop a lot but I've run out of black spray primer.

So I used Vallejo grey primer and then washed repeatedly with Army Painter strong wash. Then used several layers of Army Painter on the skin. I put a final layer of GW contrast flesh over it

The high level of detail can have amazing results... Or you keep finding some angle you hadn't noticed before.

Basically a thing I've been struggling with: high detail plastics or resin miniatures can have beautiful outcomes but there are so many challenges. Even after heavy preparation, you still get mould release messing with the paint, even though layers of primer and base coat.
