Question for you!

What even is the deal with moogles and how do they fit into the world???
January 13, 2026 at 12:47 PM
As a vegetarian: yes probably. My experience says omnivores eat just about anything they can catch, and since chocobos are essentially horses, which are eaten in many parts of the real world, they are probably acceptable to each based on local cultural norms.

What happened to this population of Cetra???
January 13, 2026 at 11:31 AM
Question for you!

What are you thoughts on Aerith's actual geneology? She's half-Cetra on her mother's side, but how did her mother wind up being the ONLY Cetra left? To be full Cetra, BOTH Ifalna's parents, and her four grandaparents, and eight great-grandparents, etc, were FULL Cetra.

This makes it harder for people to move from city to city (maintaining Shinra's workforce in food and textile production cities) AND harder for them to organize collectively between areas.
January 13, 2026 at 11:28 AM
As Shinra expanded, they wanted to control intra-city travel and transport, and since Shinra is the only people with real access to aircraft, seacraft, etc, that means if you do want to get from, say, Kalm to Costa, you have to fly to Junon on a Shinra plane/helicopter, and then board a Shinra ship.

Things like Gelinkas, primarily.

Obviously the real answer is that the developers weren't overly concerned with infrastructure, but that's not a creative answer. I think the lack of roads is by design.
January 13, 2026 at 11:28 AM
Because mako extraction destroys the health of the soil, Shinra is like a plague of locusts, constantly needing to find new, fertile areas--and then destroy them.
January 13, 2026 at 11:23 AM
Midgar is 100% a manufacturing based economy. They do NOT grow their own food or produce their own textiles. Shinra has constant propaganda commercials talking about their research on hydroponics, but they are 100% about stripping resources, not creating them.

Question for you!

What are you most hopefully to see (or worried about being excluded) in the next FF7R installment?
January 13, 2026 at 11:19 AM
which carries such a fear/stigma among the general public that it's slowly going away.

So I actually think that Midgar would still have a problem with Shinra, even without the soul thing. (there's also Hojo's Mengele shit 👀)
January 13, 2026 at 11:19 AM
I'm going to answer this seriously, lol!

So, if you dismiss the fact that mako is souls--it is established as a highly dangerous, toxic material. In that sense mako power is similar to nuclear power--which actually IS a super clean energy and very efficient BUT

It's probably not something I would read myself, but I do think these kind of offbeat pairings are exactly the king of thing that can bring out more hidden aspects of the characters.
January 13, 2026 at 1:24 AM
That said, Cissnei would be really interesting for Barret to bond with, because she DID move on from he past/losses, and make a life that doesn't center around Shinra, which Barret has not been able to do.
January 13, 2026 at 1:10 AM
Not that I don't see how Barret could appeal (tho I like skinny androgynous types myself), but I always kind of liked the idea of him still being devoted to his wife. I think it sort of fits with his inability to move on in general (See: unable to even deal with the thought of Marlene growing up)
January 13, 2026 at 1:10 AM
But you might be right--what I perceive as apathy/lack of emotion could just be lack of showing the audience the background.
January 13, 2026 at 12:33 AM
Something that I think was so interesting about OG Reno that didn't get brought to Remake was the apathy. Reno wasn't evil, he wasn't IM-moral, he was A-moral. Remake Reno feels a lot, and not just guilt--he actively HATES Cloud, in a way i didn't recall getting from OG.

Tseng: That one I don't have. If pressed, I would give it a spiritual/third eye connotation, I think Tseng might be the only spiritual Turk.

Question for you! Who do you think is the most woefully underutilized FF7 side character?
January 13, 2026 at 12:21 AM
Rude's shades: There is a practical reason (so people cannot see where he is looking) but also similar to Reno--it's elan. It's mystique. Reno cares what people think because he wants to misdirect and provoke them, but Rude cares because he wants to present a specifically curated image.
January 13, 2026 at 12:21 AM
Reno's uniform: For me it's as simple as, Reno's whole appearance is a provocation. He very much is trying to evoke a reaction, and the way he wears his uniform is part of that.
January 13, 2026 at 12:21 AM
Anything that he can lick out of the hollow of Reno's collarbones. (but also boba tea)
January 13, 2026 at 12:01 AM
tightly to whatever hint of purpose they can still find.

Question for you! What's your most 'hear me out' FF7 pairing?
January 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM
AC/post game? You can go with the idea that they see Rufus as offering them a path to redemption, but I don't think that's it. I think, particularly for Rude and Reno, they are used to being foot soldiers, it gives them purpose, and when their whole lives are destroyed, they cling even more
January 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM
In-game I think their loyalty is more towards the status quo. The Turks are pragmatists, and Shinra is the only reason that they are where they are and have the power they have. Outside of Shinra, they are fully aware they would be hated and vulnerable.

Question for you! OG Reno or Remake Reno, who's better and why?
