But nowadays gamers expect to pay 9.99 or less for an indiegame. I am down with that, but DLC and bundles allow devs to make some of that back and survive.
In fact I'd prefer to sell 29.99 games and never ever discount and support for free, but that's a death sentence nowadays.

I am not a fan of F2P dark monetizations, everyone knows this.. But Steam requires devs to go with the algorithm to survive, and the algorithm says ... make DLC.
I try to make it fair, by combining free content a lot free expansions and upgrades, when I do DLC its always as part of free stuff.

yeh going back on it , there was lots I had to prioritize.
There are a few more rollovers and generally a snappier response to input, so it feels better. But the inventory being the store and all that. I couldn't manage rebuilding that completely.
It's a compromise

hahah I wish I had more time to overhaul the UX specifically, but that has been mostly patching up the worst issues ;)

Doing a succesfull kickstarter is great marketing.
Doing a failed kickstarter is a deathsentence.
So people lowball for some good cheer and a little bit of cash.
And in that it's quite good..marketing that pays for itself and then some.

Well I co founded a studio that grew to thirty a decade ago. And that truly gave me anxiety. Now I am responsible for myself and family.. much more manageable.

sorry I meant I need a salary and my games are that salary. .. lol
but strategically this is what indies can offer that bigger studios and platform cannot creators and communities where playing the game is only part of the relationship with the creator.
Its that or brainrot express, I fear.
