Drone Pilots United
@falcon232.bsky.social
Do you fly commercial drones? Tired of being expected to be professional while dealing with companies that contract you out with unprofessional wages? Let's figure out how to fix this.
Thanks for contacting me but please don't bother in the future unless ******** actually gets serious about the work. Good luck.

Companies like yours survive on the nativity of rookie pilots and take advantage of the fact the onus for everything is on us. You're AI written letter can't even get my name right.

You're also asking for laser scans, that means interior shelter/cabinet work. Again, access issues rule here. Especially with carriers that uses the cheap "American" locks. You haven't even touched on the software licensing cost for RTK/Matterport.

The provider is expecting aerial data collection with RTK, useless for vertical models, causes comms issues when flying that close to the array, and puts the aircraft at risk. With the new FCC ruling, there is no way I'm shouldering the burden for damages caused by your clients poor planning.

AFAIC they can go back to sending full time ground crews that they have on fat hourly wages w/ benefits etc. Cell work constantly has access issues that mean pilots waste hours getting to sites they cannot access OR fly due to eagles etc. You're "one of the following" requirements is suspect.

I've heard it all before, "you gotta be hungry, willing to live in your car, and hit at least 4 towers a day". BS. UAS pilots save a BILLION dollar industry MILLIONS and expect professional pilots for intern wages. The 3 tower types have unique skill/collection profiles. Flat rate doesn't cut it.

AI message. Brilliant. I quit working for ******** years ago and don't see myself ever coming back. You're company cut wages 36% and reading your job spec tells me nothing has changed. You cannot get professional pilots for peanut wages with zero mileage reimbursement or lodging assistance.

Actual: "2-3" fails epically after "1".

It went into RTH; locked out the override/e-stop option via toggle switch. That's FN BS.

All mission critical expensive AF SW/HW should have the equivalent of a big red mushroom button. Using a hard button is best; the F/P/S toggle is it.

The flat area was not part of the flight path so this is all theory. Regardless, once a flight is "done" there should be no more pics being shot.

The system is still snapping pics but with the gimbal at 0° and writing these pics with name "Corridor...". The test will be to manually stop the flight when the mission is complete, and fly home manually ensuring no erroneous pics are being taken.

Lastly, I don't reside here 24/7. I work for a living and social media ranks low on the totem pole. As mentioned way up top, this is a test to see IF there are like minded pilots, anywhere on the globe, on Bluesky willing to chime in.

Good Flight!

Note: Unrelated accounts asking for money and atypical social media BS will be blocked. No DMs, no spammy shit.

Swearing is permitted/encouraged. I use soldier language frequently/eloquently, if that offends you go elsewhere. Warned.

Politics is ok when on topic.

This poses the question, how do we effectively train companies to stop taking advantage of professional drone pilots?
