Our war memorial is a listed building, about ten years ago a couple of town councillors spent many 100s of hours applying for funding for repairs, after years of bodge jobs needing putting right left the bill at around £100k. Hopefully this will stop make do repairs to other memorials

Non biodegradable plastic disposable straws (&lots of other single use plastics) are mostly not allowed in the UK, lots of places like Starbucks use paper straws, other places use the bio plastic that can go in the compost.
