Shoutouts to Ice Cap Zone, Mushroom Hill Zone and Sky Sanctuary my beloveds. I really don't have much more to critique or say outside of what I already said. Lava Reef Zone sucks but the rest of the game(s) was great

It's a game which can be hellish at times with it's wildly inconsistent level design and yet it's many artistic charms and distinct experimentation upon the 2D Sonic formula saves itself from being a game I dislike or deemed as "bad". It also introduced Amy and Metal Sonic two GOATs so it's good!

Death Egg Robot and Mecha Sonic's boss fights were both phenomenal and overall this game just went hard. It's a great game with not much at all for me to complain about

It is a bit unfair to compare 16-bit to 8-bit when it comes to aesthetics, character design and musical quality but Sonic 1991 is inherently of higher quality in these regards to SMB (NES) despite the latter having some traits better than Sonic 1991. It's a very good but messy game
