like even if medical documentation only ever used the words sex assignment to talk about surgery (not true,) you have to then ask are they correct or is there more to it than that. this is one of the first critical positions you have to be able to take to get to gender liberation imo

it's the fundamental critique of cissexism that these categories are imposed on all of us (and shouldn't be) and I think taking the medical documentation as gospel (but ignoring the material realities of trans people) is a bad deal.
