also 'blobber' is secretly the worst and dumbest genre name but it's both too old + niche for anyone to care and also so funny that it wraps around to actually being the best one

i think it's also cool that the first wizardry gaiden is purely a dungeon, but 3 frames its dungeons with more placehood (outside, buildings, etc.) and they're all very disorienting and mazelike but do so while still physically representing what they're trying to be very well. it's very neat i think

a lot of rpgs i play make me wistful for ff2's lightning-in-a-bottle perfectest combat/progression systems ever, but i just ran through wg3's second zone off pure memorisation and that by itself feels cooler than most of these games' explicit power fantasies

everyone who uses golden axe as b-roll should be forced to play it

the last rpg i put time into was labyrinth of refrain where my opinion was (and still is) wildly swinging back and forth between "this is kind of really cool" and "this is child abuse cookie clicker" i think i needed something like this to pull me back in. everyone's gotta draw some maps sometimes
