Policy alignment isn’t everything, though. It misses a crucial point: voters don’t just take policy claims at face value!
I argue that voters can discern whether an in-party’s behavior reflects 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 or mere strategic positioning out of 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
