#art for art-related posts.
A lot of modern/post-modern artists do art different, but they’re willing to put themselves out there and play with the medium. Can it fail? Perhaps, but nothing ventured nothing gained, right? And in the end you could always walk away, as everyone does with all art - even the good ones.

There has always been a barrier between the artist and the audience, and no amount of art class will truly fix it.
Artists are people who were willing to spend their time and energy making something for all sorts of reasons, but we only see the results. Years of effort seen only for a moment.

Hilariously this is part of the reason why modern/post-modern art even came to being. Artists/philosophers wanted to question the audiences love for art and see, through much experimentation, what could still be seen as art. You may dislike the results, but at least they were willing to try.

I guess I dislike the way people disguise their interests in art. People waffle on about how great old art is but don’t really know or understand why. It looks pretty, and that’s where the interest ends. Appreciation is only ever skin-deep, and we treat art as some mindless activity an artist does.

So I think it’s as fair to say “I could do that” with the old artists, it’s just we made a wordless agreement that that’d be disrespectful - though not so for today’s artists, apparently.
And I get it, some art isn’t good and theoretically they can be easier - but in the end, they made it at all.

Does this make those artists lesser? No, it’s just they changed the medium and were worth remembering - but there were many artists back then who are forgotten to time. It’s not like the past holds exclusively all the good artists. We built ourselves on their contributions and improve onwards.

However it’s poor taste to do so, because we respect old masters of art. However that doesn’t really matter - there’s artists today who make art for video games and comics who showcase more technical and artistic skill than older artists. Even a cover for a 40K book is impressive.

However it goes further because, when you really think about it, there’s nothing stopping you from doing any art. Aside from time and practice there’s no barrier to replicating a DaVinci or a Rembrandt, so why not say that about them? I could it too, with time and effort, in fact I have done it.

Wanna be smart? Apply metacognition and scientific method to your daily life (aka being wrong without crashing out).

If you think being wrong about things is existential, then you're just an overevolved troglodyte that neurally misfires mild disagreements with sabertooths.

Very lovely green. Nice and emerald like. And the jewel, though small, is just as impressively done. Very excellent work.

I like the color coding here. Not just because it feels like a character select for an arcade beat-em-up, but the colors feel appropriate for the visual style of combat. Blue is more noble; red is aggressive; and green being more heavy.
Cant explain how/why, but they feel nicely matching. Excellent.

I’m reminded of a comment that said that the majority of the discussion around those with autism is based on when they have problems - that all they’re known for is being traumatized and reacting in kind.
There are people with autism who live functioning, good lives - but nobody looks to them.

Nice mixture of colors. All nicely picked.

Some of my favorite comes of yours are either the Geek/Programming humor or the realistically awkward romance/relationship antics of Tay and Gabby.

Of the latter especially since it makes me think of my own relationship. They're quite representative.
