Local politics are good. You get to actually meet the candidates, hang out with people in your community (even people on the other side of the aisle), and in general feel like you're doing something besides doomscrolling. Anyway, I hope Virgil Thornton wins! He's got an easy energy about him.

My mom was on my mind all day before I realized it was her birthday. She started out a fairly stereotypical 1950s housewife, but by the time I was growing up in the 80s, she’d seen through that shit and told me to just be who I was, wherever that took me.
