Why is everyone confident Reform would govern for just one term rather than bring in outright fascism in the UK for god knows how long?

At the height of the smear he didn't push back. Here's a video of a TV interview with Andrew Neil for your enjoyment.

'loopy' and 'nutty' are perhaps more sympathetic terms than the contemporary psychiatric terms... They seem to get at what can go awry in a mind, turning into small minded circles.

An aside, I don't know how I feel about the term 'nutters'. There are so many good comrades with serious mental health history who may be quietly turned off by this! There is something to get at here, a judgement people make. 'Fanatic' you might say instead? But on the other hand..

Interesting take! I expect the biggest tendency in the new party will just be democratic socialists, not actually wedded to ending capitalism but certain Starmer's Labour is rotten beyond return. Groups that take a harder line will struggle for influence

"Trots! Tankies! Reformists! Ultra-leftists! Over time, we may find co-habitation in the same alliance to be tolerable enough to become members of the same mass-membership party."

"Having a broad democratic front of the left will mean being in alliance with people you think are nutters or bastards, people whose organisation you may have once been in and now hate with a passion – or whose political tradition you have always found detestable."

Don't think we can win that way. Socialist internationalism is hard enough without splitting the base. Or is the EU more important to you? Maybe a referendum later if there really is consistent majority public demand for one, but I don't reckon it's what the party is about. youtu.be/Ef9QnZVpVd8?...

Tragic maybe. Some thought it funny when Democrats lost to Trump again this time. It is short lived

Reckon the social network of activists involved in discussions with the MPs should start at least consulting enthusiastic supporters and donors now, if not open a forum. Don't lose the momentum. I liked Ken Loach's suggestion of regional conferences electing delegates ahead of a central conference.

“What power have you got?”
“Where did you get it from?”
“In whose interests do you use it?”
“To whom are you accountable?”
“How do we get rid of you?”
