Perhaps Canada would be less at risk. Here is a map of how the Soviet forces in Poland would use nukes in Denmark, Northern Germany and the Netherlands. There were likely similar plans for the rest of the Nordic countries.

Have you ever heard of someone digging a very deep hole using explosives alone? Probably not — because it doesn’t work. Once a hole reaches a certain depth, simply using more explosives won’t make it deeper.
