The #OceanPavilion had no power today @cop30brazil.bsky.social, but the program continued. Panelists presented with laptop screens and then discussed the governance issues of #mCDR on the high-seas. #OIF research is regulated by the #LondonConvention & Protocol

🌊 During #UNOC3, ExOIS convened a panel of experts to discuss the topic of environmental and ecological monitoring, reporting and verification (eMRV) for marine CDR. This discussion is just beginning and needs to be front and centre as the mCDR community moves forward.

We think that things have moved on and there is still a lot to lean about the durability and additionality of CDR with OIF. The US NAS mCDR review, and the Paths Forward for OIF describes the research that is needed 🌊

Using a 15-year old paper to discredit OIF ignores recent studies and scientific teams who want to consider OIF’s potential as one of many mCDR pathways. The US NAS mCDR review, and the Paths Forward for OIF is clear that more research is needed. Time to work together to solve the climate crisis. 🌊
