Re-upping this piece by @mrmattsimon.bsky.social in @grist.org back in August about #OIF for #mCDR. Good work @smith8272.bsky.social and @eschwaab.bsky.social for your quotes in the article.

Ken Buesseler & colleagues responded to an article about #mCDR in the @alaskabeacon.com that invites Alaskan coastal communities for a seat at the table via the #CLaM project. We agree. #OIF

🌊 The ExOIS consortium is committed to applying the most rigorous and independent science to evaluating ocean iron fertilization as a method of mCDR. The community needs high-quality data aimed at reducing uncertainty on these types of biotic changes.
Rather than repeating crazy headlines, everyone should read the paper, which suggests ocean iron fertilization could remove 200 Gt of atmospheric CO2, with only a 3% reduction in ocean oxygen. Let’s not be hasty in deciding which solutions are best until we have more research on all mCDR approaches🌊

At #OOSC in Nice this week & am constantly hearing people say there is a global moratorium on #mCDR (or some specific approach like ocean fertilization). I heard the same last week at the Liege colloquium. It’s simply wrong. 🧵
