Inkitt have always shady. There were huge issues with their sponsorship for NaNoWriMo in 2022.

Before #NaNoWriMo, I couldn't imagine an organization that made the absolute wrong move every single time.
Except this time. Shutting down, finally, has been the only good thing they've done in a couple of years.

I've been on them for a year and a half to formally abandon their trademarks so that anyone can use them to describe their own challenges and communities.
I hope they do, but it's more likely that they'll sell the IP in liquidation. Not that anybody wants a mark tainted with the tears of children.
