Oh, a competent editor would be wonderful at the NYT. But they hire professional liars for their regular Op Ed team (Brett professional climate denier Stephens was the reason I ended my subscription). I guess even a copy editor would help with the coherence part, though.

The editors over there actively make the NYT worse at every turn. There are real reporters doing excellent reporting (obviously not referring to their op ed section) but the editing guidelines make the articles less accurate and more biased.
