A statement from Exeter Green Party as a further march by the far-right is planned this weekend, along with a counter rally beginning at 11am in Bedford Square, Exeter city centre.

✍️ Green councillors in Exeter have written to @steveracemp.bsky.social calling on him to ask Keir Starmer to reject Rosebank.
❌️ This would do nothing to lower bills or boost energy security.
💚 We need instead to invest in the green energy sector and create the high quality jobs of the future.

The Green and Independent Group of councillors have welcomed plans by Devon County Council to remove flags from public property when they have been put up illegally.
Flags should create a sense of community, not division.

Over the next six months Stagecoach will take delivery of 51 new electric buses in Exeter and North Devon.
Welcome news for passengers and the environment.
But Stagecoach must use this as a moment to turn around their shoddy service in Exeter.

Just as COP30 climate talks begin in Brazil Logan Air promote hugely polluting short-haul flights from Exeter to cities easily reached by train.
Greens say:
❌️Airport expansion
✔️Proper taxes on aviation fuel ✔️Subsidies for rail
✔️Frequent flyer levy taxing 15% of fliers who take 70% of all flights

Following recent ‘freedom of speech’ rallies, protests and the increase of anti-migrant rhetoric, together with protests outside hotels in Devon housing people seeking asylum, Exeter Green Party has issued a statement of solidarity with those seeking asylum.

The Labour-led council hands building back to Northbrook Community Trust, drained of water.
The council have run down, then dumped, this important community asset back on the Trust.
They gave them just 28 days to find a community-led solution, pulling the plug on any community efforts to save it.

Exeter City councillors unanimously back Green motion pushing South West Water to clean up its act 💩

As a result Exeter residents should have a clearer idea about what/when the water company will invest to make the River Exe clean and safe for people and nature.

Excellent one paragraph summary from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social of what Greens stand for.
These are our democratically established people-powered policies, whoever leads the party.
But in @zackpolanski.bsky.social we have a brilliant communicator of those policies.

None of this changes as a result of Polanski’s win, as Green party policy is established democratically.
