ı am not aware of any new approaches, but there are novel readings of Mustafa Akdağ's theory by Cemal Kafadar.

As for the colonialism issue, I 💯agree with Sara Nur Yıldız, and the same should be argued with recent attempts to universalize and standardize slavery.

The objective of the article is to understand what Asia meant in specific historical contexts. As usual, I rely on my own sources as well, Timurid chronicles and manuscripts from Iran and Central Asia.
