Was reading the e-book version on a flight back from Vegas several weeks ago, and for some reason I was looking over my shoulder for disappearing passengers. Then it dawned on me that would have been catastrophic for both plane and remaining passengers. But well played, old chap. Well played.

Alas, there are no more late fees in the public library system in NYC. So yes, we do encounter that. Painful for the other patrons that may waiting list for certain books.
