It’s such bullshit that my trans brothers and sisters are treated this way in the “land of the free”.

And this is coming from a trans person who isn’t even under those policies. Trans health care should be a human right. If we look at the percentages of regret among trans people for their health care versus those of people who had surgeries for hips or knee replacements, the latter would be higher.

To be clear, this affects trans people who would be under Medicaid/medicare health insurance policies. Sure, those policies are state funded, but I’m sure that when trans people are 2% of the population, those medical bills aren’t even a ton of money compared to other state spending.

The current draft of the 2025 health and human services appropriations bill would include blanket restrictions on funding any sort of transition care for trans people, whether they be adults or minors. What happened to informed consent? To letting the people decide what they want for themselves?

In order to get SRS, I have to have two medical professionals say “hey yeah this chick needs that” and prep for the surgery before even getting the surgery itself. Talking hair removal, etc, which costs hundreds of dollars PLUS the cost of the surgery itself.

Because, as a trans woman, this is fucking bullshit. Under North Dakota laws, I can only change my gender marker on my birth certificate WITH a note from my doctor AFTER I’ve had SRS. ???? Like come the fuck on.
