Well, I couldn't let Halloween come and go without posting something (pretty sure that would count as sacrilege for a demonically possessed entity) so here's a quick study of the infamous Misfits mascot, Ruby, whom I pieced together from reference during a bout of insomnia. Happy Halloween!

No, I'm not dead yet. Guess you'll have to tolerate me a while longer.

Sorry I made you wait so long for this one (who ever "you" are, I'm still not convinced anyone reads these, but whatever; practice is practice.) Episode Five: By the Pricking of My Thumbs, whereupon Cuddles discovers his captor/liberator is, indeed, more than she appears. Enjoy!

Episode 4: Lord of this World.
Cuddles finally springs free of his captor's gaze and begins to set his plans in motion.... after a brief distraction.

Rough week.... The Prince of Darkness' throne sits empty now, and I'd be lying to say I don't feel that loss. Black Sabbath was a massive influence for me, and his voice was a big part of that. But deep down, I think he would want us to carry on, sharing laughs about the memories. Rest in Peace.

If you've never experienced the horror of being inside of a washing machine, I think The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy said it best with the entry "Avoid."

Well, I didn't mean for this to become a recurring bit, but now I just seem to have the overwhelming urge to turn my hand drawing practice into monstrosities. Show some love for Clawdia and the Phalangaraptor.... or they'll eat you.

I guess this is the beginning of my masochism storyline arc.... More hands!

20 sketches, one minute each, references provided by the lovely folks down at line-of-action.com. Probably a great place to tighten up your technique—for free! Which is necessary when you're a broke ass bear like me.

Can't draw hands? Me neither! So let's design little hand shaped monster instead, I guess? Ugh. My brain hurts....

Sometimes, I miss the little black and white four panel comics that used to print in newspapers during the weekdays. So, I thought I'd make one of my own. It's clearly an aesthetic decision, and NOT because I'm too lazy to colour it.... clearly. Ahem. Enjoy!

..... So, here's a random raccoon my brain decided to vomit out. Enjoy!

Taking a little break from the alphabet series before I finish it off. In the meantime, here's a WIP of what I've been tinkering with while I try to convince myself the alphabet project is worth completing.

V is for The Vampyre. By John William Polidori. It was written too early to qualify as Victorian literature, but carries many the era's hallmarks, including dull, verbose prose and pretentious language usage. But, it is the first English tale depicting the now legendary monster; the vampire.

U is for Unseen Academicals, by Terry Pratchett. Drew this on Juneteenth, and the parallels between the story and the struggles of African Americans was too real to disregard. Unity is Freedom, friends. Never stop second guessing your presuppositions.

T is for The Tommyknockers. A Stephen King classic. I think anyone who's ever struggled with mental health issues can find a lot of allegory in the tale... Though I often think it's fair to say that truly good horror should leave the reader questioning the meaning of sanity.
June 23, 2025 at 1:21 PM
S is for Slaughterhouse Five, by Kurt Vonnegut. Funny how older books are still so adept at hitting the modern nail on the head. I guess society hasn't learned a whole lot in the last couple of decades... So it goes.

R is for The Regulators! By Steph. . . uh. . . I mean Richard Bachman. There's always something refreshing about watching the master of horror himself loosen his proverbial collar and lay down his lines with an almost irreverent style.

Q is for. . . . well, lots of things. But as far as I know, I haven't read it! So, alas, I have to confess failure on this letter, but hey, no reason not to make a self-deprecating art decomposition in tribute to the moment. Tell me what I should have read for Q? Maybe I'll revisit it later!

P is for Paradise Lost.

"A shadow is cast wherever he stands,
Stacks of green paper in his red right hand."
-Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
"Red Right Hand."

This image actually predates my account, and inspired the alphabet series, in case you're wondering why the art is perhaps a bit inconsistent.

O is for The Odyssey! What strikes me most about the gods of ancient Greece is their immaturity, which I suppose makes sense when you try to personify elements of nature whose behavior is beyond your comprehension. Anyone else think the dramas of Mount Olympus were the first version of Mean Girls?
June 11, 2025 at 12:23 PM
N is for Neuromancer! By William Gibson. It's been discussed to death, so I'm looking at a part that always stuck in my head; Cheap Hotel, with it's tiny coffins for rent. I have a morbid fascination with them, and wonder if I could survive the existential horror of spending a night in one.

M is for Mother Night. Vonnegut's book is a bit shocking, a bit startling, and incredibly relevant... for its time, of course. Horrifically, perhaps even more so for today. Embrace love, and do your best to cut down hate, wherever it lurks.
