Limerick and Clare are now added to the list, getting me to 22/32 on the Adrian Chiles equivalent "pint in every county" challenge. Various midlands and half of NIs counties still undone: everypubindublin.blogspot.com/2025/02/32-p...

My local-away-from-home, as such, is no more. Only to return somewhere else in future, I hope; and more specifically hopefully Paddy et al have interim options ASAP.
A big thanks to Paddy and everyone who put up with my nonsense from the other side of the bar. Hoping hard for chapter 4 🥺

Tonights Graham Norton Show is where I finally realised that Rosamund Pike is not actually Rosamunde Pilcher, who would be 101 now and not really up to the auld award winning acting

There's a Dublin pub claiming it's going to start charging 50c/transaction fee for using card payments. Card surcharges have been illegal for *seven years* already; and 50c on a ~€7 transaction is obscene anyway. If you don't want to take card payments, just don't.

The impending death of MTV music channels has to be seen through a lens of a loss of why some watched music video stations. 20 years ago when I worked for one, countless guys a night spent £1 on texting in to see half a second of tit and a second of arse in a Rank1 video.

Just how many pubs actually are there in Dublin? Nobody knows, but I'll make a better guess than most: everypubindublin.blogspot.com/2025/10/how-...

My pub map is missing most of Dublin's famed nightclubs of the 60s to 90s. That's because they, and about 1000 premises selling alcohol now, are not actually licenced as pubs: everypubindublin.blogspot.com/2025/10/not-...

I spent quite a lot of the 25 years this covers working in either music TV or radio stations; and yet somehow I only know about 60% of the songs on this list. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...

Had a Simpsons "It'll Happen To You" moment there, on realising that the radio station in the doctors waiting room playing Faithless and BBE is actually RTÉ Gold.

Processing the October Revenue licence file update, but there's something of interest outside of Dublin pubs in it - Diageo's Newbridge brewery is now licenced.

Metrolink is approved, so the Brian Boru in Glasnevin will be no more in a bit - but there's been about 30 Dublin other pubs CPOed for roads, housing, a convention centre and even a library over the years: everypubindublin.blogspot.com/2020/05/du.h...

IMC Cinemas continue to have some of the cheapest pints in Dublin, at about 6 quid. But it's only one (lager) tap per cinema and you need to be watching a movie. Almost feels weird to have cheap-ish refreshments in a cinema.
