Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

Physical mail is great, but costs a lot of money that marketing people have and anticapitalist political orgs don’t. It’s also popular among marketing uses because people are no longer used to getting mail. Sometimes union info still goes in the mail, but for DSA texting us the best imo.

Importantly this includes getting their email and/or phone number.

I should say that kind of organizing isn’t scalable to 3,000 or 25,000 but it is scalable if everyone with a project shows up to a big event prepared to get people interested, talk to them about what it is in an enticing way, and then gets them to commit to participating or attending something.

I think it means we have to strategize about how to insert organizing tactics somewhere, so something meaningful comes out of it. Or convince people to focus less on rallies and to build people’s interests in joining a political organization so we aren’t simply 25k individuals marching.

I don’t think that kind of thing is scalable, and I agree that the work to get people there is organizing, but I wonder about how much of that is durable. And I’m wondering if left political orgs are doing enough to capture the energy.

I’d met her before and her work is related to prisons and immigration, and sounds like a good project. I’m not newly politicized but I might just go anyway to see if there are ways I can suggest a different kind of vision of the future, or share what kind of work is already being done.

I think it’s really hard to organize at large events like this. I got organized by someone in the smaller town where I attended the rally (approx 3k people). They were handing out fliers with info and asking people to come to a meeting where the newly politicized can discuss their politics.
