Summer is becoming a time spent indoors, even in formerly cooler climates. Some call it “variation,” but the trend is clear: more heatwaves (see Chapter 11.8.3 of the IPCC report). We use a reflective foil sunshield for the car and repellents. ⬇️🚗 ⬇️🦟

Great episode of Science Friday re: domestic goo. Scientists discuss the discovery & engineering of bacteria that extract greenhouse gases from atmosphere to combat climate change. And, importantly, it's such a treat to hear about useful, not harmful, bacteria. www.sciencefriday.com/segments/goo...

In the moon garden, plants bloom at night. If you’re patient enough and have some time at the twilight, you can watch evening primrose opens up before you. Happy summer solstice.

In 1777, de Lafayette sailed from France to America. He gave his fortune & was wounded on the battlefield for American liberty.
American Friends of Lafayette reenact Lafayette’s tour of 1824-25 at exact places.
It was a very nice event. Many Breton shirts, bicyclists, & officials.

Without local reporters 📰🏠, nobody cares what's going on with us. #FingerLakes builds artsy, intellectual, tourist infrastructure. It's impossible if nobody pays attention, spreads the word, nobody listens.

Never miss April. The magnolias are in full bloom. Someone, sometime, chose these trees, planted them, put small tablets. We don't know who these people were. But every year, flocks of locals and visitors come. Hundreds of pictures, countless smiles. Somebody put happiness on the calendar.

Mark the calendar: every last Saturday of April is Independent Bookstore Day.

There are always surprising finds, interesting local authors, and a tight-knit community.
The picture is taken in the "Author's note" at Medina, NY.

Fields of Henbit (Lamium amplexicaule) at #upstateny.
According to Agronomy eUpdate, henbit is frequently observed in fallow fields (the fields intentionally unseeded for soil to rest and regenerate).

It's my Alma mater, Dnipro State Medical University. The monumental grey building is where you start your journey as a healer: anatomy, histology, physiology, and medical biology. The motto: Semper in Motu, "always in motion" in Latin. More than 4,500 students a year. We're all over the world.

Fact of erasing creates a history no less than fact of creation. What happen when “Mona Lisa” was stolen? It was returned 2 years later and became the most famous painting in history.

How "π" is used in medicine:
▶️To calculate flow rate of the vessel = cross-sectional area x velocity. We need 🥧 to calculate cross-sectional area of the vessel.
▶️ To measure masses and structures on CT scans, many of them are round.
