Comox Valley's newest organic farm, producing the freshest fruits and vegetables for our neighbours, local businesses, and local markets
Food matters! And good, nutritious food matters even more. Where is Trump going with this insanity? Courting famine? Is this the start of a cull of those who will not be able to afford food when shortages further spike prices?
oh damn, i wonder if agriculture is like important in the US or something
Farmers report missing millions of dollars of funding they were promised by the U.S. Agriculture Department, despite promises from the Trump administration that a federal funding freeze would not apply to projects directly benefiting individuals.

Um…farmer here. Trump 45 was a disaster for farming. Barely got over his asinine policies in 2022. Biden was a boon. Helping us tackle climate issues. Trump 47 is, only after weeks, a clusterfuck of a disaster for agriculture going forwards
Donald Trump is asked who people should blame if prices go up because of his reciprocal tariffs:

"Prices could go up somewhat...the farmers are going to be helped by this...the last administration hated our farmers."

So...Donald wants farmers to blame Biden when his tariffs bankrupts them...again?

Many of the world’s worst famines were caused by bugs that people brought into new areas where no ecological/predatory control existed. Imagine if what’s happening to chickens in the US just now were to happen to wheat, corn, potatoes, or any major crop? Identifiers are there for very good reasons.
For those that don’t know what identifiers do, at ports of entry when insects are found on imported goods (like produce), a specimen is sent to the identifier to determine whether it is something invasive/threatens US agriculture or we already have it here.

Identifiers at USDA were let go this week. The GOP is fine destroying US agriculture.

How scrumptious does this look! How many greens on most supermarket shelves look, or likely are, so nutritious? Visit a farmers’ market and/or grow some of your own.

do i roll my eyes at a lot of DEI stuff? yeah, i wrote a whole essay about why i thought it was bullshit back in 2020. but trump et al aren’t saying, “corporate DEI policies mainly exist to protect corporate interests from discrimination lawsuits.” they’re saying “get the blacks out”

the fucking enforcement arm of the federal government is launching a war on integration an effort to push tens of millions of americans to the bottom of an arbitrary hierarchy of value and yeah, it pisses me off to see nominal allies say “oh yeah maybe they have a point”

the OTHER thing about the white house’s anti-diversity push is that like old fashioned segregation it is explicitly an effort to undermine unions! like c’mon! don’t be stupid!

The right-wing has been priming Americans to think of population wide gains in freedom and equality as potentially ill-gotten; a theft against those who are already living with a full suite of rights. It's why attacks on DEI work. The Dems/the left must emphasize that this is a theft of Civil Rights
It's also notable how manufactured this whole panic has been. DEI can be a little silly but it's been a fixture at American corporations since the 1990s. The only reason we're all talking about it constantly is that right-wing media decided to pretend it was left-wing tyranny.

Before folks start comparing this to European autocracies, pause and ask why so many folks - Black and white - didn’t know about the Tulsa Race Massacre. Or the Wilmington Coup. Or the Colfax Massacre. Or the Elaine, Arkansas massacre.

Erasure has been a key tactic of white supremacy. Right here.
NEW: The removal of the DOJ’s Jan. 6 database signals the Trump administration’s intention to not only spare his supporters any further consequences for their role in the riot, but to erase the event from the record.

a nice reminder to the press that there is nothing you can do to pacify these people or buy yourself leniency
this appears to be based entirely on subscriptions for Politico Pro that many govt agencies pay for. but it doesn't matter, this is now fact for roughly half the country for eternity and will be used to do whatever they want.
