I think this may be harder to heal than early week m6s so I'm a big fan

I love this silly cooking spin off because why does Rider look at Sakura with the most tender, in love expression to ever be illustrated in all of human history

anyway obviously there's. other stuff. and again I'm not very smart but. those are a couple of things that really stood out to me. correct me if I can't read though.

(and then as an aside I think what's sweet about the normal end of UBW is that when Rin talks about the future with Shirou, about taking him to London, she is still positioning herself as the head of household, but that household is now a FAMILY instead of a LINEAGE)

and it's specifically not having stereotypically masculine traits (like being assertive) that's portrayed as a bad thing or making Rin less of a WOMAN, but very specifically the masculine Son role that Tohsaka plays regardless of her actual sex forcing her to act like less of a HUMAN
December 6, 2025 at 5:35 AM
and because she is a Son, she thinks that she is a magus before anything else, that this is the role that has been set for her her whole life, and that as the Son it is her duty to Punish her misbehaving sister (which of course she can't bring herself to do)

but she wasn't "blessed". and I thought to myself. Rin is a Son. Before Rin is Rin, she is the Son, she is the heir of the Tohsaka family, she is the supervisor of Fuyuki, she doesn't stop to think if her upbringing was painful because Sons don't cry and complain about stuff like that
December 6, 2025 at 5:35 AM
but I thought about the fight Rin and Sakura have on the 16th day, where Sakura laments that no one - including Rin - ever came to "save her" and Rin coldly replies that yeah, she didn't have it as bad, she never really stopped to think about how she felt about her own upbringing...
December 6, 2025 at 5:35 AM
(no seriously they were really heavy handed about Sakura bringing Angra Mainyu into the world being compared to forced pregnancy. which isn't a bad thing don't get me wrong I just wasn't expecting it.)

2. Rin is a woman but she's also narratively masculine.

Sakura's role is pretty obvious and discussed at length. She is a Daughter which means she is symbolically "married off" (given to another family) to "bear their children"

because that is not love?

...am I losing it?
December 6, 2025 at 5:35 AM
opinion on the matter? that was just completely by accident? really? when, after Gilgamesh is defeated, Shirou acknowledges that he loves Saber but that wanting to keep her by his side regardless of her own desire is selfish? when he has the ability to bind her with his command spell, but doesn't
December 6, 2025 at 5:35 AM
She is a girl that he likes. He wants her to stay WITH HIM, as the girl that he likes. Even if that is not her wish.

...and you're telling me that wasn't a deliberate juxtaposition with Gilgamesh, who is very clear about the fact that he does want to own Saber as a sexual object regardless of her
December 6, 2025 at 5:35 AM
I genuinely thought that Shirou was written to confuse chivalry and sexism on purpose to contrast with Gilgamesh. I mean, their big fight on Day 14 is about how Shirou wants Saber to use the Grail to stay in the world. And yes, he does believe it is for her own good but at the same time.
December 6, 2025 at 5:35 AM
1. According to some threads I saw, Shirou coming across as sexist to Saber was allegedly not intentional and was actually just a clumsy excuse for his self-sacrificial tendencies. If it's Word of God, I guess it's true but like. That was so not my read.
